Infielder Gordon Beckham and the New York Mets have agreed to a Minor League deal. Beckham will be added to the 2020 Players Pool. Once a top prospect within the Chicago White Sox organization, the infielder was released by the San Diego Padres back in March.
In 2008, Beckham was drafted as the 8th overall pick by the White Sox and made his Major League debut the very next year. He would slash .270/.347/.460/.808 during that 2009 campaign at 22 years old.
It’s unlikely that Beckham will see any time however this should be viewed as a move for depth.
