Brodie Van Wagenen told reporters today that depending on his health, Yoenis Cespedes could be seeing some reps at first base during Spring Training. The same goes for J.D. Davis as well as seeing time in left field and third base.
“Really, it’s a matter of having as many players capable of playing multiple positions as possible.” said New York Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen.
We tend to see these statements being made around this time of the year, however there’s really no telling if we’ll ever see Cespedes at first base, especially with the Polar Bear Pete Alonso slated at first. But I do suppose it’s more probable than ever with the Mets depth in the corner outfield positions.
