Free Agent catcher Stephen Vogt has signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks for one-year worth $3M and has incentives that could push his salary up to $7M for the 2020 campaign.
While Vogt would have been a good offensive option to possibly back up current starter Wilson Ramos, defensively he would probably be a liability due to a 2018 shoulder surgery.
The veteran catcher is also entering his age 35 season, so while he’d make a good platoon catcher on an American League team, it doesn’t seem like a good fit for the Mets and it’ll be interesting to see what the Diamondbacks eventually do with him.
