New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen shed some light today on why the team has decided to change the role of former Brooklyn Cyclones manager Edgardo Alfonzo.

“Our decision not to bring him back to Brooklyn was a player development decision. I just want to keep ourselves on the path of putting our players in the best situation.”

Edgardo Alfonzo is now serving as team ambassador.
