Wednesday Night Lineup: Marlins vs Mets

The New York Mets will host the Miami Marlins tonight after coming from behind late in the game last night. Michael Conforto hit two home runs, one of which was a game tying two-run shot that came in the bottom half of the ninth inning. Eventually, outfielder Brandon Nimmo would walk in the game winning run in the 11th inning.

New York will have Jacob deGrom take the bump tonight and deGrom is coming off of two consecutive starts in which he tossed seven scoreless innings. Overall, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner is 10-8 with an ERA of 2.51, a 0.99 WHIP, all while striking out 248 batters in 197.0 innings pitched.

Marlins rookie Robert Dugger is slated to make his seventh Major League start while he is also simultaneously seeking his first win at the big league level. Dugger, a Tucson, Arizona native, owns a 0-3 record while posting a 4.45 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP and has struck out 22 batters in 32.1 innings pitched.

With last night’s two clutch home runs, Michael Conforto now has 33 long balls and 91 RBI’s on the campaign. After going through a rough 0-19 skid recently, Conforto is hitting .273/.484/.727 with three home runs and nine RBI’s in his last seven games.

Tonight’s contest will take place at Citi Field with first pitch scheduled for 7:10PM EST and will be televised on SNY.
