The New York Mets expectedly won the opener to the series against the Cincinnati Reds however it came with a ton of theatrics on the Mets behalf. Pete Alonso hit his Major League leading 50th home run while Jacob deGrom put together another stellar outing on the mound.

The Cincinnati Reds plan to send Anthony DeSclafani to the mound, in his last six starts the righty has been pitching to a 2.13 ERA while maintaining a 2-2 record during that stretch. Overall, DeSclafani is 9-9 with an ERA of 3.93, a 1.20 WHIP and has struck out 155 batters in 155.2 innings pitched.

If Zack Wheeler can keep this run going, he’ll have no issues finding a lucrative deal going into the 2020 season. He’s 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA and 23 strikeouts throughout his last four starts. On the season, Wheeler’s 11-7 with a 4.09 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP while striking out 179 batters in 180.1 innings.

Since the All-Star break, Amed Rosario has been hitting .321/.355/.452/.807 with 12 doubles, three triples as well as five home runs in 252 at-bats. Rosario also leads the National League with 102 hits on the road, the most since Lance Johnson in ’96. With his defense also leveling back out, Rosario has shown that he can still be the shortstop of the future for the New York Mets.
