Pete Alonso hits his 50th home run

Pete Alonso took a down and away fastball and hit it a mile over the right center field wall for a 437 foot home run. Alonso is now three home runs away from breaking the Major League rookie home run record.

The two-run shot would give the Mets the 5-0 lead and would eventually aid the team in taking the opening game of the series against the Cincinnati Reds, 8-1.
