While the New York Mets didn’t sweep the Colorado Rockies, the team did take the series by winning two of the three games and now the team will go head to head with the Cincinnati Reds in another three-game set.

Cincinnati will send their ace pitcher Luis Castillo to the hill to start things off against New York. Castillo, a right hander, owns a 15-6 record with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP and has also struck out 211 batters in 178.2 innings. However, Castillo has been pitching to an ERA north of five throughout his last seven starts.

Great American Ball Park is considered one of the smaller stadiums in the league so it would be nice to see Michael Conforto break out of his little slump and potentially go yard against this Cincinnati Reds pitching staff. Conforto is batting just .091/.231/.227 in his last 22 at-bats.

The Mets will have Jacob deGrom on the mound and there really isn’t much to say about the reigning National League Cy Young award winner that we don’t already know. deGrom is 9-8 with an ERA of 2.61, a 1.01 WHIP while striking out a highly impressive 239 batters in 190.0 innings pitched.

Tonight’s match up will be held in Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 PM EST with game being televised on SNY. The Mets are currently 3.5 games out from the second Wild Card spot.
