After a tough loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers last night, Jacob deGrom must once again pick Thor up after a bad start. The Mets are currently 3.0 back and out of the Wild Card spot while the Dodgers sit comfortably on top of the N.L. West division.
With Jacob deGrom taking the bump tonight, this gives a chance for the Mets to still take the series, even after losing the opener to Clayton Kershaw. In deGrom’s last seven starts, he’s been looking like the Cy Young award winner as he owns an ERA of 2.49 while going 3-1. Overall, he’s 9-8 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP while striking out 231 batters in 183 innings.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will send another lefty to the hill, this time the pitcher being Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu has been terrible as of late after having a superb season, the Japanese born pitcher has a 9.95 ERA in his last four starts however he is 12-5 with a 2.45 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP while having struck out 142 batters in 161.2 innings pitched on the 2019 campaign.
With Ryu struggling as of late, the right handed bats need to get it going and it all starts at the top of the lineup with Amed Rosario. Against left handed pitching, Rosario is batting .301/.352/.511/.863 with 11 home runs, one triple, five home runs and 12 RBI’s in 133 at-bats.
Tonight’s contest will take place at Citi Field with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 PM and will be televised on SNY.
