After a close contest last night against the Arizona Diamondbacks in which the New York Mets were able to take the win and at least secure the split in the series, the Mets and ‘backs pick it up again on Wednesday night as the “blister brothers” face off at Citi.

New York Mets starter Steven Matz has four career starts against the Diamondbacks and is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA, the lefty’s sole win coming last year in Phoenix. Overall, he’s 9-8 with an ERA of 4.00, a 1.32 WHIP while striking out 132 batters in 139.1 innings pitched. However, Matz has been pitching to a 3.20 ERA in his last seven starts and owns a 3-2 record in that stretch.

Robbie Ray will most likely make the start for Arizona, it’s said to be a game time decision due to a blister on his left middle finger. The left hander is 12-7 with a 4.03 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and has struck out an impressive 207 batters in 156.1 innings pitched.
