After a super exciting win against the ‘backs on Wednesday night, the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks will square off in an afternoon contest to wrap up the series. The Diamondbacks will be looking to avoid the four-game sweep after going on a nice little tear before arriving to Citi Field.
Marcus Stroman needs to pick it up before the fanbase takes a turn on the right hander. There was a lot of optimism after the trade and many fans gave Stroman the time to adjust to the big move, even after rumors of him being upset that the trade was to the Mets. Well, patience is running thin however if the Long Island native can secure the sweep for the Mets tomorrow, it’ll be a great start to the turn around in his Mets career.
Stroman is 7-13 with an ERA of 3.42, a 1.34 WHIP and has struck out 136 batters in 160.1 innings pitched. Since joining the Mets, the 5’7″ righty is 1-2 with a 5.05 ERA in seven games pitched.
Todd Frazier has been crushing it as of late and with the ‘backs opting to go with another left handed pitcher, Frazier should get another start on Thursday afternoon. The third baseman has been hitting .284/.361./.541/.902 against left handed pitching during the course of the 2019 campaign.
Arizona will send 25 year old rookie left hander Alex Young to the hill to help the D’backs try and avoid being swept. Young is 7-3 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.05 WHIP while striking out 58 batters in 66.2 innings pitched.
