After a rain shortened win that seemed to last forever, the New York Mets were able to sweep the Cleveland Indians in an important series with potential playoff implications. The importance to this next series with the Atlanta Braves holds even more importance, with the Braves holding a 9 game lead over the Mets for the lead of the division.

Oddly enough, Atlanta Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz has had a struggle of a 2019 campaign with a 4-5 record, a sky high 6.09 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, while striking out 69 batters in just 75.1 innings.

This current five game winning streak has been fueled by a combination of good pitching as well as the offense breaking through.

A month and a half ago, many fans were expecting the potential departure of catcher Wilson Ramos. The Buffalo is currently in the midst of a 16 game hitting streak and in his last 30 games he’s hitting .306/.345/.441 with four home runs alongside 20 RBI’s to boot.

The hometown Orange & Blue will have their ace in Jacob deGrom on the hill and since the All-Star break, the defending National League Cy Young Award winner is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.00 with 56 strikeouts in his last 45.0 innings.

Overall, deGoat is 8-7 with a 2.61 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP while striking out 194 batters in 155.0 innings pitched.

Tonight’s game is slated to start at 7:10 PM EST at Citi Field and will be televised on SNY as well as nationally on MLB Network.
