After Steven Matz helped the Mets pick up a big win to kick-off the series against Cleveland, Marcus Stroman will look to keep New York on fire during these dog days of August.
Cleveland will send right hander Adam Plutko to the hill after he pitched a quality start against the Yankees in the Bronx last week. Overall, Plutko is 5-3 with a 4.67 ERA, a 1.19 and has struck out 42 batters in in 71.1 innings pitched.
Michael Conforto hit his 27th home run last night, a two-run shot in the sixth that would give the Mets the lead. In his last 15 games, Conforto has six home runs and 18 RBI’s with a .278/.403/.630 slash line.
Marcus Stroman, another Long Island native, will make his fourth start for the Orange & Blue since being traded over from Toronto. Stroman owns a 5.17 ERA in 15.2 innings pitched over his three starts, however, the right hander has been pitching better than his numbers suggest. Overall, Stroman is 7-11 with a 3.21 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, while striking out 116 batters in 140.1 innings.
