After a rest day on Monday, the New York Mets will host the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night at Citi Field. The Mets are coming off of a road trip in which they lost three straight after taking 15 out of their prior 17 games, however that was remedied by a series win in Kansas City to end off the road trip on a decent note.
Cleveland will send right hander Shane Bieber to the bump in Tuesday’s contest and Bieber looks to continue his solid pitching while he’s recently 3-2 with an ERA of 1.89 while striking out 44 batters in his last 38 innings pitched.
Overall, Bieber owns a 12-5 win/loss record as well as a 3.27 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, all while striking out the opposition 200 times in 162.1 innings.
Long Island’s Steven Matz will hit the hill for the Mets as he tries to continue to keep batters on their toes. Since July 16, Matz has a an ERA of 3.06 in six starts while striking out 31 batters.
The competition has and definitely will up itself during this final 38 game stretch and the Mets will need all hands on deck. If one player goes down, it’s important for another to step up and fill those shoes. Now, let’s go and lock down a play-off spot.
