Jacob deGrom was asked about defending his N.L. Cy Young award and the humbled righty responded with “I haven’t thought about it too much, You know I’d like to be in the talks for it, but the main goal is to put this team in a position to win. You know we’ve been playing good baseball since the All-Star break, you know individual things are great but the goal is for the team to the World Series and win that. So, my goal is to go out there and put up 0’s and give these guys a chance.”

deGrom won his eighth game of the season last night against the Royals and is now sporting a 2.61 ERA which ranks him fourth in the National League.
