After one of their most important wins of the season, one of which that included a 3-run home run by Todd Frazier in the 9th inning to tie the game, followed by a walk-off hit by Michael Conforto right before he was stripped shirtless on the diamond by Pete Alonso. The Washington Nationals and New York Mets look to face-off again this evening at 7:10 P.M. at Citi Field.
Patrick Corbin will take the hill for the Nationals and this will be his fifth start of the season against the Orange & Blue, two of which resulted in giving up seven runs in 11 innings, both games in which D.C. lost.
Overall, Corbin is 9-5 with a 3.43 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, while striking out 164 batters in 141.2 innings pitched. The New York native however is 2-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 53 strikeouts in his last 42.1 innings and seven starts.
Noah Syndergaard will look to keep the momentum going for the Mets as he takes the mound in Flushing this evening. Since the All-Star break, Syndergaard owns a 1.78 ERA in five starts and has pitched at least seven innings in each one of those starts.
Overall, Syndergaard has been pitching to a 3.96 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP and an 8-5 record while striking out 140 batters in 141.0 innings pitched this season.
