Syndergaard hit the mound and while he ran into a bit of trouble, he kept the Mets in the game until his very last pitch.
After the game, Syndergaard took questions at his locker in the clubhouse and told reporters this about tonight’s contest.
“I think it’s pretty reminiscent of what happened in 2015, it’s really exciting, as a team we come into this clubhouse every day prepared to be better and prepare to be the best we could be… it doesn’t matter who’s going to be the hero, everybody in the clubhouse has the potential to be the here and tonight it was ‘G’. It was awesome, it was an awesome win”
The Mets came up huge tonight with a late inning blast from Luis Guillorme to tie the game in the eighth inning followed by a clutch sacrifice fly from J.D. Davis to take the lead and secure the second win of the series. The Mets are now 0.5 games back from the Nationals and the first Wild Card spot.
