Should the Mets dip into Sipp?

Veteran left handed reliever Tony Sipp has cleared waivers after the Washington Nationals had recently DFA’d the streaky reliever.

This season in 36 appearances, Sipp has been pitching to a 4.71 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 21.0 innings pitched. The veteran has only given up one home run this season and has a 3.71 ERA with 531 strikeouts in 503.2 innings throughout his 11-year career.

Sipp had a career year with the Astros last season in which he owned a 1.86 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 38.2 innings pitched. The Mets and Phil Regan could and should take a shot with Sipp and see if a change of scenery along with extra work with Regan could turn things around for the lefty as well as the Mets’ pen.
