Pete Alonso comments on his slump

New York Mets rookie sensation Pete Alonso came up huge today for the Mets as he put the team ahead on the back end of a double header and back to back home runs. After the second game Alonso was asked about his recent slump and if he thinks he’s broken out of it and he had the best response in the world.

The first baseman responded, “Ever since Mercury came out of retrograde, I think I’m OK.”

He also added “I really care. I play not just for the guys in this clubhouse, but I play for the fans.”

Alonso will look to continue to improve and adjust at the plate and tomorrow he’ll go against Marlins rookie pitcher Jordan Yamamoto. Yamamoto started out his Major League career with decent numbers however the righty has been sporting a 5.56 ERA in his last seven starts.
