Thursday Afternoon Matchup: Mets vs White Sox

The New York Mets never came around to trading starting pitcher Zack Wheeler and the aftermath may result in having the best rotation in baseball. Not too bad. The Mets ended up coming back and winning over the White Sox, late in last night’s contest.

Wheeler will take the hill for the Mets this afternoon against the White Sox before they hit the road and travel to Pittsburgh for another series with the Bucs. Wheeler is 7-6 with an ERA of 4.71, a 1.27 WHIP and has accumulated 137 strikeouts in 124.1 innings pitched. However in his last seven starts, the pitcher is 2-3 with a 4.91 ERA.

The Chicago White Sox will send Dylan Cease to the hill. This will be the rookie’s fifth big league start and so far the youngster has been pitching to a 6.86 ERA and owns a 1-3 record.
