The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies have struck a deal that would send the left handed veteran to the Phillies.
The Mets’ return for Jason Vargas is 26-year-old catcher Austin Bossart, who’s hitting .195/.303/.335 at Double-A. A scout described him as a good defender without much offense to his game. They also received Double-A catcher Henri Lartigue in the transaction.
Bossart, a 26-year-old from Texas, was selected by the Phillies in the 14th round of the 2015 first-year player draft out of UPenn.
