Wednesday Night Lineup: Padres vs Mets

  1. McNeil RF
  2. Conforto CF
  3. Alonso 1B
  4. Canó 2B
  5. Frazier 3B
  6. D. Smith LF
  7. Rosario SS
  8. Nido C
  9. Syndergaard RHP

After taking the opener against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night, the Mets and the friars will play the game 2 of the series with Noah Syndergaard taking the hill for the Orange & Blue.

There have been reports floating around for a while that the Padres have a major interest in Noah Syndergaard and honestly, who could blame them? I have no idea what BVW is up to, but I truly hope that Syndergaard isn’t on his way out of Flushing, Queens. I imagine that the Padres will have some executives at the game just to keep a close eye on Syndergaard or maybe even to hammer some kind of deal out.

Syndergaard is currently sporting a 7-4 record with a 4.36 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP and has struck out 118 batters in 119.2 innings pitched. In his last seven starts, the Texas born right hander is 4-0 with a 3.45 ERA. So Syndergaard seems to be trending in the right direction.

San Diego Padres started Dinelson Lamet will take the hill in search of his first victory of the season. The right hander is 0-2 with an ERA of 5.14, a 1.43 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in only 14 innings.

There’s no reason why the Mets shouldn’t have the edge in this contest.
