Callaway on Alonso

New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway was asked about Pete Alonso during the press conference before Monday’s bout against the San Diego Padres and had this to say.

“Pete, he’s in first in everything… that’ll work, if he stays right where he is. No, I get to see Pete every day, it’s not just the numbers he’s putting up. It’s the intangibles he brings to the team, it’s leadership at a very young age… he’s a young leader in our clubhouse. I’m always going to be biased towards Pete, for all of those reasons because I get to see the things nobody else sees, but I think the numbers in the end speak for themselves and Pete’s dominating in every way”
