Thursday Night Lineup: Mets vs Giants

  1. Jeff McNeil – RF
  2. J.D. Davis – LF
  3. Pete Alonso – 1B
  4. Todd Frazier – 3B
  5. Robinson Canó – 2B
  6. Amed Rosario – SS
  7. Tomás Nido – C
  8. Juan Lagares – CF
  9. Noah Syndergaard – RHP

In what looks to be an excellent pitching matchup, the New York Mets and Noah Syndergaard will take on the San Francisco Giants and Madison Bumgarner on Thursday night in San Francisco.

Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard is coming off of a very good seven-inning start in Miami and he hopes to carry the momentum with him on the West Coast. However, this won’t be the Marlins he’ll be facing, this Giants club has been on an offensive tear as of recent and it probably will be a hard night’s work for Syndergaard.

The Texas born right hander and Mets star pitcher is currently 7-4 with an ERA sitting at 4.55, WHIP of 1.24 and has 110 strikeouts in 112.2 innings pitched. In his last 7 starts, Syndergaard is 4-0 with a 3.95 ERA over 43.1 innings.

Madison Bumgarner has been a hot name that has been floating around the market during trade deadline season and this could be the lefty’s last go at it in a San Francisco Giants uniform. It’ll be interesting to see if he goes, where he goes, and what the Giants would get in return.

Bumgarner is 5-7 with an ERA of 3.86, a 1.21 WHIP, and has struck out 121 opposing batters in 116.2 innings pitched. The young veteran is 2-2 in his last 7 starts and has an ERA of 3.44 in that 36.2 inning stretch.

I like the way the Mets have positioned their lineup vs left handed pitchers and with the Mets on a little mini surge of their own, this should call for a great game tonight. I just hope everyone in New York and the East Coast can stay awake for this one.
