Unfortunately, it looks like Mets starter and trade candidate Zack Wheeler will hit the I.L. with shoulder fatigue. It’s being reported that the Mets have been aware of the situation since right after the All-Star break.
The move is retroactive to Friday, July 12th and will be eligible to return as soon as the 23 of this month. There’s never a good time for an injury, clearly, however this will definitely effect his trade value.
According to Mike Puma, Tampa was the most recent team to inquire about the services of Wheeler.
Wheeler is currently 6-6 with a 4.69 ERA and has struck out 130 batters over 119.0 innings pitched and 19 starts.
