The Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals have come to an agreement to send pitched Homer Bailey to the Athletics. The Royals will get back prospect Kevin Merrell, a Single-A outfielder that ranked as Oakland’s 17th top prospect.

Bailey has been pitching to 4.80 ERA and a 7-6 record while with Kansas City this season.

I don’t know if the Athletics were really in the running for Wheeler, however I’m sure there were a dozen teams inquiring about Bailey. So this very well may drive up the asking price, but it could also mean absolutely nothing for the Mets and Wheeler.
