The Boston Red Sox acquired veteran right handed pitcher Andrew Cashner from the Baltimore Orioles. The acquisition likely means that they will not try to pursue a potential trade for Mets starter Zack Wheeler.
Cashner was 9-3 with a 3.83 ERA over 17 starts and 96.1 innings pitched on a terrible team.
The return wasn’t a great one for Baltimore and Cashner has team control till the end of 2020, which leads me to believe that’s he’s the more valuable pitcher of the two.
Don’t expect the Mets to get a top of the line prospect for Wheeler.
