The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will face off tomorrow night at Citi Field and the Phillies plan to send Vince Velasquez to the hill to take on the Mets and the reigning N.L Cy Young Award winner.
Velasquez has been having a to go at it this season with 2-5 record to go alongside a 4.73 ERA, 1.42 WHIP with 60 strikeouts in 51.1 innings pitched. In his last three starts in which he rejoined the rotation, he’s been pitching to a 6.94 ERA which has made the Phillies big potential buyers at the Trade Deadline.
Jacob deGrom isn’t going anywhere. The right hander is now a mainstay at the top of the rotation for several years to come. He currently has a 3.32 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 4-7 record with 128 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched.
Since May 1st, deGrom has pitched to a 2.81 ERA throughout 77 innings while striking out 85 in a dozen starts.
