Wednesday Night’s Players of the Game

Offensive Players of the Game

Jeff McNeil is etching his name in the stone tablets of Mets baseball. He’s a hard nosed player that flat out hits and he hit today going 2-4 with another multi-hit game with 2 RBI’s to go along. The Mets ultimate utility man is now batting .351 and is still currently 2nd in the N.L. Batting Title race.

Dom Smith put up a 3-hit game, going 3-3 with a walk, two runs scored, an RBI and is now batting .339 while playing out of position in left field.

Pitcher of the Game

Jason Vargas put out a quality start that the Mets needed. The left handed craftsman pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two runs on three hits while tying a career high 10 strikeouts and settling in on a 3.66 ERA. He should have walked away with the win, but baseball, man.
