The Mets need to turn this horrid stretch around and it’s going to need to start with the ace Jacob deGrom. I try and be realistic with a somewhat optimistic outlook but it’s becoming hard and down right embarrassing.
Jacob deGrom will take the mound against Atlanta and Julio Teheran. deGrom possesses a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP with 102 strikeouts in 82.2 but just a 3-6 win/loss record. Much like last season, deGrom’s record does not represent his ace status with the team. The reigning Cy Young award winner owns a 2.73 ERA in 980.1 career innings pitched, the track record is there.
Julio Teheran will be making his 16th start of the year, aiming for his 6th win for the Braves. The veteran righty has a 2.92 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts in 83.1 innings pitched.
Teheran is on an eight game stretch where he has a ridiculous 0.81 ERA and has a 1.78 ERA against the Mets, a 16 game run dating back to 2015.
