What about Bob?: J.D. Davis

Updated on June 16th, 2019: In his last 7 games, Davis has been hitting .375/.375/.750 with 2 home runs, 5 RBI’S and 5 runs scored.

And in his last 15 games, the 2014 3rd round pick has been batting .302/.333/.535 with 2 home runs, 6 RBI’s and 6 runs scored out of his 13 hits in 43 at-bats.

He’s currently batting .276/.339/.476/.815 with 8 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs with 22 runs driven in.

Davis clearly shows a lot of potential but the young slugger needs to work on his defensive woes, or he may end up being a player without a position or the prototypical D.H., which will probably make it’s way over to the National League by 2021.

Just to be 100% clear, this isn’t something J.D. Davis actually said, I’m saying it on his behalf. While I’m extremely ecstatic about the way Todd Frazier has been playing, offensively as well as defensively, I’d love to see J.D. possess a bigger role with the Orange & Blue.

Davis needs work on the defensive side of third base, there’s no denying that in the slightest. But the double tap on the throw over to first isn’t something a player can’t overcome, we’ve seen David Wright defeat those demons. Now I’m not saying J.D. Davis is David Wright by any stretch of the imagination, however what I am saying is that this isn’t a big obstacle to defeat.

Today so far, Davis has gone 4-5 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI in his limited playing time.
