Sunday Afternoon Pitching Matchup: Cardinals vs Mets

Dakota Hudson will take the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals in the final game of the series, the righty is coming off of a career game against the Miami Marlins. He’s also going into today’s game with six straight quality starts, five of which the Red Birds won.

He currently has a 5-3 record in 14 starts, sporting a 3.47 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP with 51 strikeouts over 72.2 innings pitched.

Jason Vargas has stepped up in a huge way for the Mets, specifically during his previous eight starts. Opponents are hitting a meek .215 against Vargas while owning a 2.20 ERA during that stretch.

Vargas is 3-3 in 11 games pitched and has a 3.68 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts in 51.1 innings.
