The St. Louis Cardinals will send Michael Wacha to the bump on Saturday Night. Wacha owns a 4-2 and a not so sexy 5.63 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 52 strikeouts in 56.0 innings pitched. During a point in the season, Wacha lost his starting gig, however he was able to reclaim his familiar role with the Red Birds.
Noah Syndergaard will take the hill for the Mets and will try and stop the recent bleeding for the Orange & Blue. Syndergaard is 4-4 with a 4.45 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, as well as 88 strikeouts in 14 starts and 89.0 innings pitched.
Keith Hernandez brought up an excellent point last night, saying that a lot of pitchers in today’s game are not utilizing their full arsenal and instead heavily relying on the fastball more than ever. I think Noah’s throwing too many flat fastballs and needs to mix in some curveballs, but hey, that’s just my opinion.
