According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the Mets plan to sign the 12th overall draft pick, third baseman Brett Baty this weekend to a below-slot deal. Baty’s deal is for $3.9M, $466,000 below the expected price for a number 12 pick.
This money should help the Mets recruit third-round pick and top tier pitcher Matthew Allan. It would previously reported that Allan had already committed to the university of Florida on a scholarship, however things may have changed with the extra cash for the pitcher. Rumors are Allan is seeking between $3M-$4M
