Thursday Night Pitching Matchup: Cardinals vs Mets

The 33-34 Orange and Blue head back to Flushing, Queens where they’ll be waiting for the arrival of the 33-33 St. Louis Cardinals.

St. Louis will send the 4-3 Jack Flaherty to the mound to take on a potentially surging Mets team. The 23 year old righty owns a 4.08 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, as well as 73 strikeouts over 68.1 innings pitched and and 13 starts.

Jacob deGrom will take the mound for the home team Mets for his 14th start of the season. The reigning N.L. Cy Young owns a 3-6 record with a 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 94 strikeouts over 75.2 innings pitched. In his last 7 starts, he’s pitched 42.2 innings while striking out 45 and maintaining a 3.16 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.

Against the Cardinals throughout his career, deGrom is 4-2 with a 4.21 ERA against the red birds.
