Update: It’s said that Ortiz had to have an organ removed during surgery, however he’s currently out and resting. The Boston Red Sox have sent over a transport vehicle to bring him back to Boston for his safety as well as better medical attention.

Update: Initial reports are said to possibly be inaccurate. It’s being reported that Ortiz was actually shot in the back and has an exit wound by his stomach.

Former Red Sox DH David Ortiz has been shot in his home country of the Dominican Republic. The shooting happened during a burglary attempt in an amusement center. Ortiz’s condition is currently unknown but was said to be shot in the leg and a suspect has been arrested.
