Sean Burnett has retired

Veteran lefty reliever Sean Burnett has called it quits and is hanging up his cleats. The Mets signed Burnett to a Minor League deal during the off-season and he’s been pitching pretty terribly for the Syracuse Mets.

In 5 games, the Dunedin, Florida native has pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 12 hits and 11 earned runs. Opponents were hitting .387 off of Burnett and had a 15.63 ERA in his time in the Mets organization.

Burnett has a 9-year Major League Baseball career and has played for 3 different teams during that span. He owns a 3.52 ERA over 378.1 innings and 380 games played.
