MetsJunkies Monday Night Recap

Amed Rosario broke a 1-17 skid with a home run crushed over the centerfielder Victor Robles’ head. The solo shot would go down as Rosario’s fourth of the year. He then showed a great eye and patience during his second at-bat and drew a walk.

Pete Alonso crushed his 15th home run of the year, a Mets rookie record for home runs before the All-Star Break. The home run put the Mets up by two.

Todd Frazier snuck an RBI single past Trea Turner in the third inning, making it a 3-0 game.

Carlos Gomez got his first Mets hit in 12 years as he ripped an RBI to left center field, pushing the score to 4-0.

Wilmer Font pitched well. The newly acquired right hander that is more accustomed to relieving started the game for the Mets. Font pitched four innings, giving up 2 runs on

Drew Gagnon, the original slated starting pitcher for tonight’s matchup came into relieve Font and looked like Seth Lugo, the reliever he’s replacing in the ‘pen. The right pitched two scoreless innings and now has an ERA of 3.46 on the season.

Robinson Canó hit a pinch hit double in the sixth, his 13th double of the campaign.

Dom Smith jumped on a hanging slider in a pinch hit role, the young first baseman pushed the score out to 5-3.

Edwin Diaz picked up his 11th save of the year while maintaining a 2.04 ERA.
