Update: Saturday’s pitching matchup vs Marlins

Steven Matz will make his return from the injured list after dealing with nerve discomfort in his left forearm. Matz is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA and 32 strikeouts. Matz hasn’t pitched against any live action since May 4th, however was one of the Mets more solid pitchers coming out of the rotation. Steven Matz is 3-0 with a 0.93 ERA in five career starts at Marlins Park.

*Before today’s game while speaking with reporters, Callaway said Matz would be on a pitch limit of 75-80 pitches.

The Marlins will send Pablo López to the mound, Lopez is coming off of his worst career start (3 IP, 10 runs vs the Mets) and will get another chance to right his wrongs. López owns a 2-5 record with a 5.93 ERA in the 2019 campaign.
