Last night, Carlos Gomez was removed from the Syracuse Mets game after hitting a 3-run home run. That lead to speculation that Gomez May be headed to Miami to join the Mets in their series against the Marlins. The speculation is accurate this time around. The Mets have selected the veteran outfielder’s contract and will join the 25-man roster.
Gomez had an opt-out clause in his contract that would allow him to opt-out of his deal with the Mets if he doesn’t make the team by June 1st.
In 35 games with Syracuse, Gomez batted .270/ .329/ .500/ .829 with 9 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 16 runs scored, 21 RBI’s and even 5 stolen bases over 126 at-bats.
