MetsJunkies Thursday Recap (Minors included)

The Mets lose the game 7-6 and series 2-1 to the Washington Nationals, they will head down to Miami to start a 3 game series with the Marlins.

  • Michael Conforto hit a big 3-run home run in the top of the 3rd to tie the game at 4, his 9th home run and 21st RBI’s of the season. Conforto would go 1-2 before exiting the game due to a collision with Robinson Canó while trying to field a blooper between the two. Conforto was able to walk off the field on his own, with no assistance, which is hopefully a good sign. The outfielder will undergo concussion tests.
  • Jeff McNeil would also 1-2 and would have to exit the game because of an abdominal strain. McNeil is now hitting .354 after today’s contest.
  • Robinson Canó drove in a run, his 14th RBI of the year. The veteran 2nd baseman went 3-5 while hitting his 11th double.
  • Daniel Zamora had a sharp slider today with a performance to match, the young lefty pitched 0.2 of an inning however was removed after walking Parra.
  • Tyler Bashlor lowered his ERA to 1.42 by pitching a scoreless 8th inning while striking out Juan Soto.
  • Todd Frazier hit a pinch hit double in the top half of the ninth to give the Mets life.
  • Wilson Ramos would follow with a pinch hit single to drive in Brandon Nimmo, cutting the lead to 7-5.
  • Juan Lagares, who came into the game to replace Jeff McNeil, would shoot a single through the hole on the right side for an RBI single. (7-6)

  • The St. Lucie Mets also played a day game today against the Florida Fire Dogs and 2nd base prospect Luis Carpio continues to hit in the Florida State League. Carpio went 2-4 with an RBI, his 12th of the season.
  • St. Lucie Mets’ starting pitcher Tommy Wilson pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, one of which was unearned, while walking 3 and striking out 6. The righty now has a 2.39 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in 37.2 innings pitched.

  • Dilson Herrera hit a solo home run for the Syracuse Mets, his 6th of the year. The young infielder went 2-4 with 3 RBI’s.
  • Luis Guillorme hit his own solo home run for Syracuse, his first. He finished the day going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
  • Carlos Gomez hit a home run, a 3-run shot counting as his 6th home run. He went 1-3 before being removed from the game.
    Rajai Davis hit his 3rd home run on the year, a solo shot. He finished the night going 2-4 with 3 runs scored.
    David Espinosa went 3-5, scoring 2 runs and driving in 1.
    Hector Santiago pitched 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs (1 Earned), while walking 4 and striking out 2. The veteran lefty now has an ERA of 3.35 and also clubbed a 3- run home run.

    Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ right hander Austin McGeorge pitched 3.1 scoreless innings while striking out 5 and lowering his ERA to 1.80.
    Binghamton infielder Sam Haggerty went 2-5 and now has a .413 OBP.
