Takeaways from Friday’s game vs Brewers

Wilson Ramos is turning things around. He’s been hitting the ball well all season but has had some bad luck with hitting balls right where the defense has been positioned. On Friday, he hit a soft line drive into right field to drive in Robinson Canó.

Michael Conforto went 2-4 on the evening, one of the hits being a double off of closer Josh Hader, which seems like an almost impossible task. Conforto is now hitting .272 with 9 doubles.

Matz was solid, I think I’ll catch a lot of disagreement here but he didn’t fold. He ended pitching 5.2 innings, giving up 9 hits, 3 runs and striking out 3. While two of the hits were home runs, many of the other 7 were tough luck, softly hit bleeders that squeezed by.

Robert Gsellman pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings, he has now lowered his ERA to 3.60 on the season.

Luis Avilan came into the game after not seeing any work in a while, he pitched 0.2 of an inning with a strike out.
