Jeff McNeil hit a line drive in the gap for a double, his 9th of the year. The utility man went 1-4 and is now batting .365 on the season.
Robinson Canó hit his 8th double of the year.
Jacob deGrom was excellent. He gave the Mets exactly what they needed, unfortunately the Mets returned the favor by not scoring any runs, a familiar story. deGrom pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 walks while striking out 6 and lowering his ERA to 3.82 on he season.
Ryan O’Rourke was great in his Mets debut, he pitch 0.2 with a strikeout and retired a very difficult at-bat in Joey Votto.
Tyler Mahle (0-3, 4.50 ERA) of the Cincinnati Reds will face-off against Noah Syndergaard (1-3, 6.35) and the Mets on Thursday afternoon at Citi Field, 12:10 PM.
