McNeil has been impressive this spring and his good play has carried into today’s game against the Cardinals. McNeil had two hard hits going 3-5, the first hit being an absolute shot over the right field wall, his third home run of the spring. His second and thirds hits were a hard hit singles up the middle. However, he needs some more work at third base.

Pete Alonso had a good day with the stick, as well. Alonso went 2-5 with an R.B.I. off of Cardinals pitcher and former Mets prospect John Gant. Another 2-4 this afternoon came from veteran second baseman Robinson Cano, displaying his beautiful swing and amazing plate coverage.

Rosario drove a run in on a hard hit single to right field bringing the score to 9-5, in his 1-4 afternoon. Meanwhile, Keon Broxton and Carlos Gomez continue to impress, Broxton had a 1-3 day, putting his average at .281 and an OBP over .430 this spring.

Gomez almost went over the left field wall like spider man trying to bring back a home run off of Marcell Ozuna’s bat, but it was just out of the reach of the newly reacquired veteran’s grasp. At the plate, Gomez went 2-4 with a run scored, he’s now batting .250 in his three games, so far.

Shortstop prospect Ronny Mauricio looked good out there going 1-3 while hailing some “Francisco Lindor” comparisons from the SNY commentary.

It was an unfortunate day for Newark, New Jersey native Hector Santiago, who group up a fan of the Mets. He gave up five runs, seven hits, and three walks in just three innings pitched. Mets pitchers gave up a total of 15 runs on 21 hits to the Cardinals while scoring 5.
