Santiago is pressing for a spot on the Mets roster

Some people may remember Santiago from his time with the WhiteSox and Angels, where he served as a starting pitcher but as Santiago has gotten older, he’s become more open to the probability of pitching out of the bullpen.

Santiago is a good fit for the Mets, if he acts as the team’s long man as well as a lefty specialist. When the Mets had Darren Oliver fill that role, his versatility and usage was exponential due to covering two roles that are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Santiago pitched two innings against the Astros while giving up two hits and zero runs, he was also able to strike out three batters while lowering his ERA to 1.80 during this 2019 Spring Training. He has totaled 5 innings pitched and struck out the opposition 8 times.
