Per SNY and Andy Martino, the Mets signed the backstop to a two year deal with an option for the third. Ramos will be guaranteed $19M and can max out at $27.5. The best news about this is that this will end the Realmuto saga. The deal is pending and Ramos will need to pass his physical before anything is finalized.
The Mets fill a desperate need with this signing but it’s important not to overuse Ramos with his history of injuries. The way I see it, 120 healthy games from Ramos is probably worth more than a unhealthy 150, so it’ll be interesting to see how they utilize Ramos throughout the season. I think there’ll be stretches thru the season where the team will be carrying 3 catchers.
