Should the Mets trade for or sign a catcher?

No, I’m not asking if the Mets need an upgrade behind the dish, what I’m asking is, what avenue should the Mets go down for this upgrade. Rumors are circulating around the Mets,Yankees, and Marlins about a possible 3-way deal.

There aren’t many specifics available however it’s said that the Mets would walk away with J.T. Realmuto while the Yankees would acquire potential Cy Young winner, Noah Syndergaard.

Like most Mets fans, I don’t want the Mets to trade the phenom but they do have to entertain each and every offer, and rightfully so. So instead of trading away your “Number 2 Ace”, why not make a short term commitment with a FA catcher. The Mets don’t lose anything except for cash and if the signing isn’t a good one, you can always cut ties without losing a top tier pitcher or prospect.

I would love to see a platoon between Jonathan Lucroy or Wilson Ramos splitting time with Stephen Vogt. Vogt is coming off of shoulder surgery but expects to play the 2019 season and that makes him a perfect candidate for a one year deal that involves a platoon role.
