With the acquisitions of Diaz and Familia to strengthen the Mets ‘pen, the team is still going after another big name reliever. Another one that’s familiar with pitching in New York City and understands the team is bigger and more important than his own ego.
Multiple reports are connecting Andrew Miller as well as some other lefties such as Jerry Blevins, Zach Britton and even a familiar face in Oliver Perez to the Mets and some people within MLB expect a deal to finalized sometime in the upcoming weeks.
Miller has made it publicly known that he doesn’t need to close out games and he’s happy with helping his team win in whatever form or fashion. If the Mets were to sign Miller, I’d imagine that he and Familia would set up the saves for newcomer Edwin Diaz.
