Is Wheeler’s days with the Mets numbered?

Andy Martino of reported that there were at least a dozen scouts watching Wheeler pitch on Tuesday. That evening, Wheeler pitched 7 innings while only giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs, & struck out 3 Padres.

He picked up his 4th win of the season as his ERA sits at 4.33, for the time being.

The teams on hand were the Yankees, Red Sox, Reds, Rangers, & Mariners. However, Boston may have dropped out of the Wheeler sweepstakes due to the acquisition of Nate Eovaldi from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Martino is reporting that the Mets feel they could get a “Top 10” prospect in return for Wheeler from a playoff contender & that move can happen any moment.

It’s still unclear what kinds of prospects the Mets are wanting in return. However, Seattle is looking like the team that’ll make things interesting in this potential shake up.
